Parks & Rec Job Announcement

The City of Pearsall is accepting application for the Parks and Recreation Department for Roadway Trimming.  The applicant must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License.  Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more. Prefer experience in plumbing, electrical welding.  Operate various types of mowers, trimmers and other heavy-duty equipment to accomplish assigned activities; mainly in maintaining roadways, to include city parks and sports complex.  Digs holes, pours concrete and erects street signs.  Trim tree limbs and brush.  Checks oil, water, fuel, tires, and hydraulic system and performs other routine inspections to ensure vehicle is in proper working condition.  Works outdoors in hot, cold and/or hot weather.  Collects brush, garbage and debris and loads onto truck.  Performs other related duties as may be assigned.  Must pass a physical, background check and drug test.  Applicant must be able to follow directions and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and public.  Must satisfactorily complete a six (6) month probation.  Starting salary is $10.00 an hour.  Applications are available during working hours between 8:15 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Pearsall City Hall 215 S. The City of Pearsall Parks and Recreation Department has an opening for a Temporary Parks & Recreation Summer Youth Program Director and is accepting applications from dedicated adult energetic individuals. The Director, under general supervision is responsible for planning, leading and conducting recreational activities for our summer youth programs. Essential job functions include, but not limited to the following: use initiative, originative, and specialized knowledge in setting up programs and carrying through. Duties and activities may vary according to area of assignment, i.e., school age children or teens, as well as playgrounds and center programs. Performs related supervisory and administrative duties. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Applicant must have a valid Texas Driver’s license. Applicant must pass a background check, physical, x-ray and drug test.  Depending on qualifications, salary is $11.00 to $13.00 an hour. Applications are available at City Hall 215 S. Ash St. Pearsall, Texas.  Applications will be screened and selections made to set up interviews.  The City of Pearsall is an “at will and equal opportunity employer”.  Position opened until filled.
